The Citadel of Gros Morne is a very tall semi-floating structure, resembling a gigantic stone pyramid turned upside down. The only way inside is either through a portal located just below the fortress, or through walkways and ladders leading inside at the summit. The Citadel was located a very short distance away from the city of Gros Morne, on a frozen hillock, but now it travels between the Sovereignty's conquered cities.

Structure

The Citadel is made entirely out of stone. As of this moment, it contains no unlife whatsoever. Prior to the installation of the flotation crystals, however, there were four enormous bones supporting it from the ground. Now the bones are gone and are replaced with massive, heavy chains keeping the Citadel from floating off. Inside, there are no walkways to be found whatsoever - only rooms (an exception is the entrance hall, which is accessible from the portal beneath the Citadel. It does in fact include a hallway and a staircase set). Passages between rooms are provided by writing a correct glyph on any of the walls of a particular room, opening a portal to the recipient room. Needless to say, this creates movement about the building extremely fast, despite its great size. It also prevents anyone without knowledge of the Citadel to access any of the rooms.

There are also no windows to be found anywhere, other than a row of slits in the rock on the very top layer of the fortress to allow defensive cannons to fire down on any intruders. The cannons are very basic, utilizing gunpowder and iron cannonballs. The top layer of the Citadel is used for air transport reception, such as airships and wyvern riders. As such, there are a few entrances into the citadel which do not require glyphs to be created, but they are nevertheless magical in nature. They seal up completely, disallowing any air flow into the building.

Function

First and foremost, the Citadel is the palace of Kronos, Sovereign of Kandarin. It is his sanctuary, where he sits upon his ivory throne, commanding his undead army or composing evil taunts - whichever he feels like doing at the moment. It is also a reception hall for Kronos' guests, whichever may make their way into Gros Morne. Due to the abundance of rooms in the building, almost all administrative offices are located inside as well. Finally, the Citadel serves as a landing pad for any air transport to stay in Kandarin.

Construction

The Citadel was constructed by Kerig as a favour for Kronos, out of a large mountain. The construction took mere minutes, but the end result was still quite impressive.
