Runic Magic
From DALpedia
Runic magic is magic cast using the various magical properties of geometric shapes and ancient scripts. Usually associated with gods or deities, but rarely actually involving them, Runic magic is a way to cast various spells by drawing the appropriate figure, and, in it's more advanced forms, is quite similar to programming.
Runic magic actually contains most forms of other types of magic as it's own subcategories, though any spell cast through runic magic works differently than it would work when cast normally. A rune drawn by one mage can be used by another mage, which not only saves the trouble of learning whole schools of magic but saves some magical energies to the caster as well (since the rune generates some power on it's own). Simple runes and their usage are often tought in ordinary magic institutes, but the more advanced techniques are rather rare in both facilities that teach them and people who use them.
